If you are or plan to be a new undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Campus, you will need to complete the following steps to be considered for and receive need-based financial aid:

1. Apply for admission to the University of Pittsburgh by completing the Application for Admission. You cannot be considered for financial aid until you have been admitted.



2. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Prospective freshman students are encouraged to complete this form not later than March 1.



3. If requested by our office, complete and return a University of Pittsburgh Financial Aid Application Supplement to the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid as a part of the U.S. Department of Education Verification process.

4. If requested, send signed copies of parents' and student's most recent U.S. Income Tax Returns, Form 1040 or 1040A or 1040EZ to the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid as part of the U.S. Department of Education Verification process.



5. Complete and sign the Master Promissory Note (MPN) for your Stafford Loan.



6. Complete and sign the Master Promissory Note (MPN) for funds awarded from Perkins, Nursing or Health Professions programs.



7. Complete any loan applications for Parent PLUS or other alternative loans by June 1. Complete, sign and return required Promissory Notes and other paperwork for these additional loans.



8. Complete the Entrance Interview by July 1 if you have been awarded funds from the Stafford, Perkins, Nursing or HP loan programs.
