At any given time you are only a short ride away from campus and a wide variety of diversions. If you are
a fan of outdoor activities, you will find Pittsburgh is conveniently located in a region ripe with
recreational opportunities such as hiking, cycling, skiing and white water rafting. Many of Pitt's
student clubs will provide you ready access to these activities and more. Seven Springs and Hidden
Valley ski resorts, the Youghiogheny River rapids, Fort Ligonier and Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural
masterpiece, Falling Water, are all about 90 minutes southeast from campus.
Lake Arthur, Moraine State Park and McConnell's Mill, all about 90 minutes north of campus, are
excellent locations for hiking and water sports. Looking for the nearest beach? Presque Isle State
Park on Lake Erie, approximately two hours north of Pittsburgh, has sandy beaches and trails popular
with cyclists, in line skaters and bird watchers.
Located only four hours from Washington, DC, five from Philadelphia and three from Cleveland, Ohio,
Pittsburgh is also never too far from the resources that neighboring cities have to offer. The
Smithsonian, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are all potential weekend
excursions.
Do you have friends attending one of Pitt's four other campuses? No problem. They are only a short road
trip from Oakland; Greensburg is the closest with a 45-minute drive and Bradford the farthest, about
three hours away.
