If you are not an international student, you can apply for non-degree status through the College of General Studies at www.pitt.edu/~cgs. What non-degree status options are offered through the College of General Studies? They include:

  1. Post-baccalaureate status: for students who have earned a bachelor's degree and wish to take college classes as a non-degree student either for their own benefit or in preparation for graduate school.
  2. Guest student or visiting student status: for students enrolled in a degree program at another college or university who wish to take courses for credit at Pitt with the intention of transferring them back to their home institution.
    Note: this includes summer visiting students planning to go elsewhere in the fall.
  3. College of General Studies 'stand-alone' certificates (you do not have to be enrolled in a degree program to earn a stand alone certificate): these include communication, community health assessment, corporate/community relations, digital media, information system design, managing health services programs, nonprofit management, women's studies, writing, writing for the professions.
  4. Non-credit courses
