We recognize diversity as an educational value, essential to the education of the whole person.... We also recognize diversity as a social and economic value, because we know that our responsibilities include educating students who can and will be contributing citizens in an increasingly multiracial, multilingual, and multiethnic world.
-- Mark A. Nordenberg, Chancellor

With 102 undergraduate academic programs to choose from our students enjoy a great amount of flexibility when planning their academic careers. Opportunities exist for undergraduate research, double and triple majors, dual degree programs and more. Not only do we believe in offering academic options for our students, we have also set a high standard for the quality of our educational programs. Pitt is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities which includes the top 62 research institutions in the United States and Canada. We are also one of the few schools that offer a Bachelor of Philosophy degree through our prestigious Honors College.

We strongly believe that not all education occurs in the classroom. Our diverse student body represents students from all 50 states, two US territories, the District of Columbia, and 114 foreign countries. This year, minority students represent about 16% of our freshman class. Other learning opportunities include:

Career Counseling

Comprehensive and extensive library collections

Internships

Intramural and Division I Athletics

Outside the Classroom Curriculum

PITT ARTS

Research and laboratory experiences

State-of-the-art computing systems

Volunteer Opportunities

The opportunities don’t end there. We’re constantly creating new academic and support programs; enhancing our commitment to student service, strengthening our relationship with the community and cultural institutions; encouraging our students to pursue leadership roles and gathering feedback from our students to help foster the best possible experience on our campus.

We believe that a World of Possibilities awaits you here. We hope you will join our Pitt family and take full advantage of these opportunities.
