Undergraduate Student Level is determined by the total number of credits completed by a student, as defined
below. Students must meet the corresponding minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) at the end of each level
to be making satisfactory academic progress.
| Academic Level |
GPA |
| Level 1 - 00.0 - 24 credits |
1.50 |
| Level 2 - 25 - 54 credits |
2.00 |
| Level 3 - 55 - 84 credits |
2.00 |
| Level 4 - 85 - 114 credits |
2.00 |
| Level 5 - 115 credits or more |
2.00 |
Full-time students must earn a minimum of 24 credits per academic year (two full-time terms) to maintain satisfactory
progress. Progress for students attending a combination of full-time and part-time, or part-time only must
meet the above GPA requirements, and must successfully complete the credits taken each term.
Any undergraduate student who is enrolled for more than 10 full-time terms without earning an undergraduate degree
will not be considered to be making normal progress toward his/her degree. Part-time students are expected to meet
undergraduate degree requirements in a similar pattern, which expects credits taken to be successfully completed each term.
Right to Appeal
The Office of Admissions and Financial Aid will reconsider any student denied aid on the basis of failure to make academic
progress at the time when his/her academic record improves to meet the minimum requirements. To be reinstated, a student is
required to submit an official transcript with a letter requesting financial aid reinstatement to the
Office of Admissions and Financial Aid.
In addition, students not making satisfactory academic progress may appeal the denial of aid through their dean's office.
An academic dean may request that the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid reinstate a student's financial aid if the dean
feels that unusual circumstances (medical problems, family considerations, etc.) caused the student's academic
problems. Any student who wishes to pursue such an appeal should contact the academic dean of his/her school or college. The
dean's request for reinstatement of the student's aid will be honored when the dean states in writing that the student is
considered to be making satisfactory progress and is in good standing academically in their school or college.
Satisfactory Academic Progress PHEAA State Grant Program
In addition to the general Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines, undergraduate students receiving a PHEAA State Grant
are subject to a separate satisfactory academic progress review. Full-time students are required to complete a minimum of 12
credits for each full-time PHEAA grant received or a minimum of 6 credits for each part-time PHEAA grant received in the most
recent completed academic year.
For more specific information, please contact the PHEAA State Grant Coordinator in our office.
